The farms I emailed are:
Half Caper Farm in Mt. Pleasant
Shannon Crow in Wiarton
Both are at least 1.5 hours away, so we will have to do some simple truck repairs and get it on the road soon, if we want to bring goats home. I think we have a little work to do around here first, anyway. Maybe we can have them bred before we bring them home...no, I think we better just get used to having two goats before we do that.
Like I need something else to do! I already have more to do than I can cope with!!
It's exciting, anyway! Maybe! It all in His hands now.

Just a word of advice.... If your going to have anything with Boer in it make sure you spell it Boer and NOT Boar! Most Boer goat breeders really dont like it when its spelled wrong! They will make you the butt of Several jokes then correct you.Lol
Most people dont sell adults unless they are culling or cutting back they sell the kids. And I think its easier to start with kids especially bottle babies because its imprinted on them that you are mom and they will follow you just about anywhere. Where if you buy some older ones they dont always mesh with you and you can even have personality clashes!Lol Been there and done that!
Good luck on your goaty adventure!
Thank you, Tonia. I corrected it :-)
#1 it's not breeding season for Nubians. I think Boers are seasonal too which is fall. #2 you probably won't find one bred right now unless it was bred very late in the season...I think there are probably some still around. #3 It's very easy....I mean super easy to rent a Boer buck and bring him to your place for breeding. I'd do it again in a heart beat!
You might find one that's milking and you will probably pay more. If you do get a baby make sure it's people friendly if you want a good working relationship.
My Nubians are so good they put my cow to shame! Just make sure you spend some time looking and interacting with the goat. However a shy goat can still be a good one...in fact my shy goat is probably better in behavior than the out-going ones.
I wish you well in your search. Don't hesitate to email me if you need some help. I'd be happy to.
Take care.
Thanks so much for the advice Tonia and Diane! I found two sisters, nubian/boer crosses, just 2 weeks old! They are about 3 hours from us. They are not weaned yet, so that gives us some time to get things ready for them.
It's still not a certain, for-sure thing. Lot's of details and variables to consider. If it's His will, it will work out. :-)
Good luck on finding goats.
